An outdoor playhouse for kids offers a dedicated space for your child to spark creativity, build independence, and enjoy countless hours of imaginative play. It’s not just a play area—it’s a small world where adventures begin and skills develop in the safety of your backyard.
Usually there is no permit required if it is smaller than 144 square feet, or 12’ x 12’. Make sure to check with your local city or county to verify. Sometimes the local Home Owners Association (HOA) will have specific requirements for outbuildings, make sure to check on this also. Note that our playhouses are specifically built to match your home, so there shouldn’t be any issues.
Not that big actually, the footprint of the playhouse is quite accommodating for small yards. One difficulty is having adequate access for delivery, such as: yard gates, fences, etc. This will be addressed during the initial consultation.
We have an option to add electricity. This is powered by a solar panel with some lights and switches. No heating/cooling options available.
Not indefinitely. The playhouses lack the proper amenities that your real home offers. Your kids will definitely want to have sleepovers in it, etc. We leave this up to the parents or guardians.
Very similar to your home. Some materials are more maintenance free than others, so this will vary. Details will be provided to you about the specific maintenance needed for your playhouse.
With the right materials and proper care, a high-quality outdoor playhouse for kids can last for a long time —sometimes well beyond your child’s playtime years.
First may I tell a quick story? Take playdough for example. Some parents make it, most parents buy it. My experience as a kid was with both kinds. The homemade stuff was inconsistent, had a strange smell, dried out quickly, was not a vibrant color, needed to be made, etc. The store bought kind was: consistent, smelled fine, came in bright colors, stayed pliable for a longer time, came in a fancy container, we got to pick out which style we wanted at the store, etc. As a kid, I loved the store bought kind and put up with homemade kind. Both were playdough, but each came with a specific cost.
Now let’s talk about playhouses. Many believe purchasing a playhouse is way more expensive than building one from scratch. But this isn’t the case. If you purchase a standard-size house without much customization, you will spend less money than you would have to spend on tools, supplies, and materials needed to build a playset from scratch.
Another important consideration is time. Not only does it take time to build a playhouse, but also: designing it, figuring out materials and quantities, buying materials, having access to the proper tools and personal safety gear, having a good location and expertise to build it, etc. Why not let the professionals handle all this for you?
